Gutter and roof care in Miami
How much does gutter cleaning cost in Miami?
The price depends on the feet of gutter, the number of stories, how packed the runs are and whether guards are installed. Many Miami homes have only short gutter runs over entries and garages, which keeps the job smaller. Call with your ZIP code and we quote by phone.
How much does roof cleaning cost in Miami?
It depends on the roof size, the material, the pitch and how much algae is on it. A one-story tile roof and a two-story flat roof are different jobs. Tell us the roof type and the stories and we quote by phone.
When is the best time to clean gutters in Miami?
Early May matters most, before the wet season starts on May 15. A second visit between mid-October and December clears the debris left by hurricane season.
How often should a Miami tile roof be cleaned?
Every two to three years suits most roofs. Shaded slopes and roofs under trees grow algae sooner.
Do you clean gutters and roofs after a hurricane or tropical storm?
Yes. Storms leave fronds, branches and shredded leaves on the roof and in the trough. After a named storm we move cleanups to the front of the schedule and flush every downspout.
Does my Miami home need gutters?
Not always. Many Miami homes shed water from the roof edge. If you have gutters or downspouts, we clean them. If you do not, a roof wash and a check of the drains and the ground along the drip line still protect the house.
Is it safe to pressure wash a tile roof in Miami?
Pressure is the risk. Tile makers' care guides cap cleaning pressure at about 1,200 psi and warn that some cleaners can etch concrete. We use a soft wash and a concrete-compatible cleaner, and we step only where tiles overlap.
How often should I clean my gutters in Miami?
Twice a year is the minimum: early May, before the wet season, and again between mid-October and December. Add a check after any named storm, and more visits if trees overhang the roof.
How soon after a storm should I check my gutters?
Within a day or two. Debris left in the trough turns to sludge in the heat and holds water, and the next storm arrives on top of it.
Why do my gutters overflow at the corners?
Corners and downspout outlets are where leaf mats and palm fiber collect first. A heavy downpour shows the blockage there, even when the middle of the run looks fine.
Where should a downspout drain in Miami?
Away from the walls, onto a lawn or bed that slopes away from the house, or into a drain if you have one. Water that lands against the foundation has few places to go on flat ground.
Can sand or grit block a downspout?
Yes. Roof grit and sand settle in the bottom bend and harden. We flush it out and check that water leaves freely.
How do I know if my downspout connects to an underground drain?
Look at the base. A pipe that goes into the ground instead of out to a splash block is a buried tie-in. A round cap or pop-up outlet elsewhere in the yard is the other end.
Do gutter guards stop palm fronds and fiber?
They stop whole fronds and large leaves. Fiber and small debris still catch on top, so guards still need cleaning.
Can salt air damage gutter guards?
Thin metal guards close to the water can corrode over time. We tell you when a guard looks past cleaning.
How often do Miami gutter guards need cleaning?
Once a year at minimum, and twice a year under trees. If you only do one visit, make it early May, before the wet season.
Why do my gutters streak faster under a tile roof?
Algae and mildew on the roof wash down the gutter face with every rain. Cleaning the roof and the gutter face together keeps the result longer.
Will brightening work on gutters faded by the sun?
It removes dirt and streaks. If the paint itself has chalked or worn through, the test spot shows what is possible.
Should I wash the roof before brightening the gutters?
Yes. Wash the roof first, then brighten the gutter face, so fresh runoff does not bring the stripes back right away.
Can you clean a tile roof in Miami without damaging it?
Yes, with a soft wash, a concrete-compatible cleaner and careful footing. Our pressure stays far below the 1,200 psi ceiling that tile makers set.
Do flat roofs in Miami need cleaning?
Mildew, dirt film and ponding stains build up, and drains can clog. We wash with a membrane-safe cleaner and clear the drains and scuppers.
How soon will the black streaks come back?
Algae spreads on the wind, so it can return, usually on shaded slopes first. Most roofs hold up two to three years between washes.
